My professional journey began as a lab chemist, where I gained a solid foundation in food science and technology. Through hard work, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, I advanced through various roles, ultimately achieving the position of CEO and President of Foods. This extensive progression has endowed me with a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of managing and optimizing food processing operations.

Throughout my career, I have held senior leadership positions at several well-known food companies, where I was instrumental in driving growth, innovation, and operational efficiency. My responsibilities have encompassed strategic planning, new unit setup, greenfield projects, supply chain and production management, quality assurance, and new product development. Each role has contributed to my deep expertise in the food industry, allowing me to develop and implement strategies that enhance productivity, create a profitable business unit, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote sustainable practices.

An important aspect of my career development has been the international exposure I gained through numerous foreign trips arranged by my parent companies. These trips, which included attending trade fairs, expediting business deals, visiting foreign companies to learn cutting-edge technology, and participating in seminars, provided me with invaluable global perspectives and insights. Dr Amitava Sarkar

Dr Amitava Sarkar, a noted Food Scientist from Kolkata, is a Doctorate in Chemistry from Jadavpur University, with professional trainings from IIMM(Indian Institute of Material management), CFTRI(Central Food Technological Research Laboratory of India), Spices Board(India) and IIFT(Indian Institute of Foreign Trade). He also has Six Sigma certification and is a Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 22000(Food Safety Management System). He is also an IIM-Calcutta Alumnus, having done “Advanced Programme in Supply Chain Management” from IIM-C. Dr Sarkar is a senior management leader with more than 27 years of experience in leading techno-commercial roles spanning profit centre management, R&D, product development, manufacturing operations, direct sales, marketing and brand management. Adept in strategizing and developing product portfolios, setting up & managing vendors & distribution channels and capability building; expert in managing multimillion-rupee operations, and leading large geographically dispersed cross-functional teams. His Last designation in the industry was “President and CEO”.
